Mandatory alphanumeric registration for Spain
From 15 September 2026, every alphanumeric sender (Sender ID) used in Spain must be registered with the Spanish regulator CNMC. If your Sender ID is not registered, your SMS will still be delivered, but recipients will see a long phone number instead of your name.
This applies to you if you send SMS to Spanish numbers (+34) with an alphanumeric sender, such as “MyCompany”. If you send to Spain from a phone number, no action is needed.
Who submits the registration
The registration is submitted by the owner of the brand or trade name, i.e. your company. Neither GoSMS nor the operator can submit it on your behalf, because the Sender ID must be owned by the entity to which the name actually belongs.
What you will need
-
An electronic certificate to log in to the CNMC portal. You can also log in via the Cl@ve system, which supports European electronic identity (eIDAS). If you do not have a certificate, see No certificate for the CNMC portal?
-
Company details: VAT/company ID number, company name and postal address.
-
Details of the representative submitting the application: name, ID document number (passport or ID card), email and mobile number.
-
Proof that the name belongs to you. One of the following is enough:
-
a trademark (EUIPO or the Spanish OEPM),
-
a company name entered in the commercial register,
-
your own internet domain,
-
an entry in another public register,
-
if you have none of the above, evidence of long-term commercial use of the name.
How to fill in the form
Step by step
-
Open the Gestión del Registro de alias page on the CNMC portal.
-
Log in with your certificate or via Cl@ve.
-
Fill in the form according to the table above and attach the proof of your link to the name.
-
Submit the application and wait for CNMC approval.
-
Once approved, keep sending from GoSMS as usual – nothing changes in your GoSMS settings.
Tip: If you use several Sender IDs, each one must be registered separately.
