How long SMSs can I send?

An ordinary SMS can contain up to 160 characters. Should you write an SMS with more characters than that, it will be split into multiple parts by your phone.

SMS with diacritic signs

If you send SMS including diacritic letters, the maximum allowed length is 70 characters. If you exceed it, GoSMS will use several characters to allow the recipient to connect multiple SMSs into one. Hence, two SMS messages with diacritics can’t use the full range of 2 × 70 characters, only three characters less. Diacritic SMS over 70 characters is split to 67-character parts.

SMS without diacritics

SMS not using diacritic signs follows the same principle. One SMS is 160 characters long. Two messages, however, can’t use the full 2 × 160 characters (the connecting sequence takes up 7 characters). Hence, an SMS longer than 160 chars is divided into segments by 153 characters. Upon writing the SMS, you can see how many segments will it take.

The recipient will receive his/her message from a sender „GoSMS“. You can change this, if you activate a customized Unique sender name.
